Making the Most of the Outdoor Season
We at Club Tread LOVE what we call “outdoor season”!
Outdoor public pools in Colorado usually open around Memorial Day, and we are excited to move our treading into the fresh air when it warms up outside.
In addition to outdoor pools associated with the city, we have found access to a few condominium association pools and find those to be ideal for treading, since there are no lane dividers.
You're going to need a few extra bits and bobs for your outdoor treads. In addition to suit and towel, pack your outdoor tread bag with sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat or visor (handy for keeping hair up and out of the pool), and plenty of water to drink. It’s nice to have a bottle of lotion or body oil to apply post tread, and prevent the sun + chlorine from drying out your skin.
One of our favorite parts about summer treading is we can make a day of it and get the kids involved.
Depending on the ages of the kids, you can group tread while kids play (and show you all their “mama-watch-this” tricks) or take turns rotating out so everyone gets an hour's tread and someone is always supervising children closeby.
We find it’s best to get the tread done in the first hour while the kids are busily playing and before they all start asking for snacks. You’ll feel great having accomplished your workout before playing in the pool with your kids, or sitting poolside with a beverage. ;)
Pack lots of snacks and stay for the day!
