How to Convince Your Friends and Family to Try Treading Water and Spread the Tread

We don’t think it should take too much convincing to recruit some treadheads for a fun, effective and social way to stay fit, but we want to offer you some tips for spreading the tread among your friends, family, partner and co-workers.

Pitch: “It’s The Ultimate Full-Body Workout

Treading water is more than just a refreshing activity; it’s an impressive full-body workout. This exercise engages your core, legs, and arms, providing both strength training and cardiovascular benefits while being gentle on your joints. It’s accessible to everyone, whether you're new to exercise or a seasoned athlete.

Pitch: “It’s an Opportunity to Connect and Catch Up”

There’s something uniquely enjoyable about working out with others. How many other types of exercise allow you to be circled up facing one another? Treading water together gives you a chance to connect, chat, and enjoy quality time together. It’s a great way to mix socializing with staying active, turning your workouts into a fun and anticipated event.

Pitch: “It’s Customizable for Any Fitness Level”

Whether you’re just starting out or already in top shape, treading water can be adapted to fit any fitness level. You can easily and significantly adjust the intensity by having a pool noodle or floatation device within reach, or adding weight to your Club Tread Vest. Everyone can participate and get a workout suited to their needs.

Pitch: “We can ritualize it and/or reward ourselves afterward”

Make your treading water sessions even more enjoyable by turning them into a fun ritual. Coordinate your swimsuits (we wear fluorescent suits on Fridays and message each other "TGIFF" in anticipation of a Friday afternoon Club Tread) for a bit of extra motivation and plan for some relaxation afterward:

  • Hot Tub: Unwind and soothe your muscles in the hot tub.

  • Steam Room or Sauna: Enjoy a session in the steam room or sauna to relax and detoxify.

  • Drinks and Dinner: Keep the fun going with refreshing drinks or a delicious meal.

Pitch: “Let’s Join the “Spread the Tread” Movement”

Treading water isn’t just a workout; it’s a movement that blends fitness with social connection. Encourage everyone you know to join in, and help “Spread the Tread” by creating a vibrant community of treadheads. By expanding your circle, you’ll be part of a movement that enjoys both fitness and connection.

Invite Everyone: Friends, Family, and Partners. Treading is a great and productive way to spend quality time with a parent, or older relative. You may introduce them to a new form of exercise that will promote health and mobility.

We are confident that, if you can get them in the pool, you will all leave feeling energized and accomplished. The blend of exercise and social interaction ensures that everyone will be eager to plan the next session.
