REDEFINING WELLNESS WITH CONNECTION CENTERED FITNESS
What is Club Tread?
Club Tread involves treading water for exercise while you are distracted with companionship (ideally) — old friends, new friends, your mom, your brother, your kids. It’s your new favorite form of body sculpting, calorie burning, low impact exercise. It’s your key to staying connected with friends, and having meaningful conversation. It’s your new pre-happy-hour happy-hour.
About Us
Hi, we’re Kate and Betsy, long time friends and big, big fans of treading water for exercise. So much so that we have designed our own custom water treading wearable weight. More on that, later.
Outside of treading, we share a love for cooking, camping, talking, NYT puzzles, listening to the Armchair Expert podcast and raising little people. Over the past couple of years, we have been spreading the tread in our community and people seem to really like how treading makes them feel. They’re coming back for more, and the numbers are growing. We think the secret sauce is in the good exercise coupled with the social connection. Face to face, inclusive of all fitness levels.

FAQ

No. Treading is suitable for people of all fitness backgrounds and levels, so long as you are comfortable in the water. A lot of people seem to think they couldn’t tread water for more than a few minutes, let alone tread while wearing extra weight. We think you will surprise yourself. If you’re just getting started, stay close to the pool's edge, and ease yourself into it. Your legs and arms will naturally find a rhythm. Take breaks, and add time slowly over multiple sessions. You can keep a noodle or kickboard at hand. As you gain confidence, you can gradually increase the duration and intensity of your tread-sesh.
We think that you will find this type of cardio a lot more accessible and enjoyable than jogging, especially if you have company in the pool with you.

Not a lot. Your swimsuit, towel and a pool (or lake, or any safe body of water) that is ideally about a foot deeper than you are tall. It is advisable to check the pool schedule to make sure there will be space available in the deep end. If you are lucky enough to be treading outside, we recommend adding a wide brim visor and sunscreen to your bag. When you are ready to up level your tread, you want to feel more of a burn, we suggest purchasing a Club Tread weight vest.

Not completely. Your head will be up and out of the water while treading. If you have long hair, we recommend clipping it up high on your head. Realistically, you should expect that the lower backside of your hair will get splashed. If you are treading near lap swimmers, or kids playing, you should expect a bit more splashing around your head and hair.

Yes! We think together is better, because it passes the time and fills up your social cup, however it can be perfectly great to tread alone. Whatever gets you out there. If you’re headed to the pool on your own, check out our How to Enjoy Your Solo Tread blog post for a few tips.
